What has received less attention are the foundation's programs, and the professionals who lead them insist they are hard at work and won't be slowed down by an election in which the foundation itself has become an issue. The Clinton Foundation, a public charity, is a direct service provider, rather than a foundation in the traditional sense.Share the piece on TWITTER: https://twitter.com/ClintonFdn/status/648183654225735680.Share the piece on FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/ClintonFoundation/posts/855970657857710.Voice your vision for the #FutureofImpactThis year, CGI is teaming up with GOOD Magazine for a campaign encouraging people around the world to digitally participate in the Annual Meeting. 'I enjoyed being able to bring the viewer with me to see the important work being done on the ground in Africa. I hope everyone who watches the film will feel compelled to make a positive difference in their own way.'Clinton Development Initiative's unique strategies address U.N. SDG 2The Clinton Development Initiative's Malawi County Director Keith Polo penned a piece for Devex that explains how we're bringing together the nonprofit, government, and private sectors to develop agricultural value chains in East Africa, helping to address Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: 'End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.'The Clinton Development Initiative's approach to overcoming these challenges is the Anchor Farm model. We blend strategies and financing from both the development and the private sectors, operating agribusinesses alongside smallholder farmer outreach. As the country director of CDI, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, in Malawi, I am excited to say we have been successful in helping 85,000 farmers in Malawi, Rwanda, and Tanzania benefit from climate-smart agronomic training, higher yields, and increased market access.Share the piece on TWITTER: https://twitter.com/ClintonFdn/status/647138498663817218Share the piece on FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/ClintonFoundation/posts/854801234641319The Clinton Foundation and CGI 'Go Local' in HaitiDevex explained how 'to find success in Haiti's recovery, go local.' Devex joined us in our 2015 trip to Haiti, and they saw firsthand how partnerships can drive progress. In the article, they explain how the Foundation's work in Haiti 'supports small and medium enterprises in ways that reduce, not grow, their dependence on external support.' Devex also wrote about CGI's Haiti Action Network and how several CGI commitment-makers like TOMS and West Elm are helping to encourage sustainable economic development in Haiti.'The Clinton foundation is uniquely placed. We are able to be the great convener because we have President Clinton,' she said, elaborating on how the Clinton Foundation gathers stakeholders to support its focus areas in Haiti: building capacity, bringing in investment, and empowering women entrepreneurs. 'Just as we assessed ourselves and knew that disaster relief was not our forte, each individual organization should do an assessment of themselves and ask what are our strengths?'Share the piece on TWITTER: https://twitter.com/ClintonFdn/status/645964469324095488Share the piece on FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/ClintonFoundation/posts/853266764794766CGI Commitment brings quality-ensured medicines to AfricaReema Jweied-Guegel, vice president of the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention, wrote in Devex about how her organization is working with CGI and partners to ensure quality-ensured medicines are available in Africa and around the world. She writes how 'Quality assured medicines are a pillar of public health and one underlying fundamental tenant, or inherent promise that they provide, is that they will be safe, of good quality and effective.'We are working with the Clinton Global Initiative and other partners to help strengthen health systems in Africa and eliminate poor quality medicines from the region's drug supply. In 2013, we opened the Center for Pharmaceutical Advancement in Training in Ghana and made it our first commitment to action as members of the Clinton Global Initiative, where we are now addressing the unique challenges of ensuring pharmaceutical quality in sub-Saharan Africa.'Share the piece on TWITTER: https://twitter.com/ClintonFdn/status/647071757074104320Moringa: the new kale? There is a new superfood on the market: moringa. According to some analyses, 'moringa leaves have double the protein in yogurt, four times more calcium than milk, and seven times more vitamin C than oranges.' As discussed in an NPR story, Kuli Kuli Foods, which sells moringa products in the U.S., is partnering with the Clinton Foundation and the Smallholder Farmers Alliance to support smallholder women farmers in Haiti, where they will cultivate moringa. This partnership - and a new CGI commitment - will be highlighted during the 2015 Annual Meeting. The company recently announced a partnership with the Clinton Foundation to launch a similar program in Haiti. Eventually, Curtis envisions relationships with farmers around the world. On the fulfillment and shipping side in the U.S., autistic adults do much of the work.Share the piece on TWITTER: https://twitter.com/ClintonFdn/status/647024940529618944President Clinton and the center groundFareed Zakaria, who will be moderating a CGI Conversation on advancing growth in Europe during the Annual Meeting, authored a CNN piece on the importance of moderation and President Clinton's legacy. The extremes make noise, but look who is governing countries -- Germany's Angela Merkel, Italy's Matteo Renzi. Even the leftist Francois Hollande in France has backtracked on much of his leftism. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton's strategy is still the right one in a post-Cold War, postsocialist world -- the most serious place in politics remains the center ground.
